Backstage, backfire...

Today was presentation day. At last, I could get over the intense feeling of having to present infront of the school my animations. But it didn't really turn out as expected, though. Here's the reason why;

Well, remember when I wrote last night that I was going to edit some timings since Mr. Bongard deleted a particular phrase which had animation in it and thus made the rest of the animation distorted by a second? Well apparently, if I tried to send the improved version of the slides to the announcements' comuter at that time in the morning, it might make the person-in-charge annoyed since announcements should be sent to him by Friday and so I didn't want to take my chances.

After Fall-In and Morning Duty, I went Backstage of the New Auditorium and met up with Ben Sim. Ben's suppose to say the speech, while I just played the animation. Something like he does the talk while I do the walk. So while waiting for our turn to be on stage (since, afterall, it was still Chapel and the Pastor was still preaching,) Ben and I had to wait at Backstage Left in one of the most quietest momments I've ever gone through. Everyone present Backstage uttered not a sound and the only sounds heard were the voice of the Pastor and the trinkling of water in the air-conditioning pipes. And my footsteps. It felt so much like those World War II scenes when the soldiers are ducked in their trenches quietly waiting for the command to open fire at the risk of their deaths, just that there was no death to expect except probably to mess up infront of the school and senior admin when on stage later.

A very interesting experience, I must say, and I'm very thankful that God blessed me with such a great opportunity! For most of the duration I waited within, I was playing around in the props room by doing many things like dancing with the National Flag (That's something even more rare than dancing with the School Flag!) and making shadows using the glow of the Power Supply Switches (Yup, with enough ttemptation, I could have shut down the whole Audi and get myself into deep trouble...)! Henry also came in and quietly chatted with Ben over some stuff while killing off time.

But once the Pastor was finished with his sermon, we all bowed our heads in prayer along with him before he made his exit. We then wished the Guitarists good luck before they went on stage to play for the final hymms to end off Chapel. Earlier on, they sheepishly told us that they never really practiced, but I guess they made it well with the songs after all. I joined the Pastor as we both raised our hands while singing the praises to God. Something else you don't ussually hear. (None of the students want to raise their hands during worship in Chapel like what usually happes in a typical Church.)

Then after the Benidiction was the Announcements. Now for Chapel, announcements are ussually divided into two main groups: Written Announcements (Which I never really realised were simply flash cards with paragraphs on them for the announcers to read out.) and Practical Announcements (Which my PowerPoint presentation fell under). While the people involved in Practical Announcements were waiting for our que, we were chatting among each other in an interesting manner, in the sense that a conversation can go like;

"Hey, what are you?"
"Oh, I'm Food For Thought. Who are you?"
"I'm Performing Arts. Nice to meet you!"
"Same to you too! Say, what's happening with Performing Arts anyway?"
"Oh, we're going to start a performance soon, and later I'd be sharing on the details."
"Good for you!"
"And what about you? Wasn't Food For Thought over a week ago?"
"Yeah, that's why I'd be showing a PowerPoint Presentation on the results and what we've finally collected."
"Good luck on your presentation!"
"Same to you, too! Erm, I think it's your turn to go. You're on!"
"Wow, okay. Here goes..."

Then I'd watch as the presenters put on a slighty more serious face and tone before speaking into the mike and demonstrating the images on the screen. It was an interesting transition, and I'm thankful God allowed me to see this side of Backstage! But one by one, the people started to leave, and in a matter of minutes, it was our turn to present. Praying to God that things would turn out fine, I prepared myself for the command to walk on stage. The teacher-in-charge of the stage set-up was comfirming with us details like, "Is there any sound files required?" or, "Which come first - Speech or PowerPoint?", then talked to the Set Managers at the top of the Balcony level using a small walkie-talkie, telling them respectively what conditions to adjust the stage to for our presentation.

"Full dark stage. Over.", "Increase volume by a little. Over.", "Lower the screen a bit more. Over." and stuff like that. And true enough, the commands were forfilled within a second from it being mentioned, like the lights were killed instantly when he asked for it, and the volume noticably increased during the present speaker's presentation! It was nice to watch, but once the stage was set, and the presenter before us was finished, we had to move forward and start the show.

The reason why I had to come on to stage just to play the presentation instead of him just doing it himself was because since the music in the slides was activated by the first slide itself, the first slide can't move on to the next slide automatically until the music finishes playing, unless someone clicks on to the next slide and thus continuing the the chain which can then be automatic. And since I knew the best timing to click the slide, I had to help Be click for him.

So I followed the drill - While Ben talks over the mike and states a couple of sentences on who we were, I quickly went to the computer and open the presentation for playing the momment he was done. But when I opened the Presentation, it reveiled the slide with the picture of me holding the tin cans with Alex. Shocked, I quickly jumped the slides to the first slide before starting it all on Ben's mark.

So once I played the first slide, I looked at my watch for a while before resting my finger on top of the Spacebar. In order to make sure the rest of the slides go in accordance to the music, I had to make sure I pressed the Spacebar once the last note of the first instrumental stanza was played. So I observed the music carefully, making sure I didn't miss the note for nothing. (The music was The Rock, by the way, and courtesy of Tim. I wanted to thank him for the song once I got back to class from Chapel, but I'll explain his response later on...)

*dung*, the note started playing. It was held for a second or so, and I was to transit to the next slide once the note was finished. So imagine the scene in slow-mo. My finger was hovering above the Spacebar, ready on the count of the ending note. I waited. And waited. And waited. Okay, the note wasn't that long, but you get the (intense) point. Once the note was lifted again, I knew my que and quickly pushed the Spacebar down, automatically starting the next slide and thus continueing the remaining automated portion of the whole slide.

Quarterly relieved (If there's such a word), I looked back and forth from the large stage screen to the computer screen itself, checking if anything went wrong. Apparently, this computer was comparatively old to my Tablet or even my house computer, and thus the many fonts I used were reduced to just Arial. But what almost turned me pale was the slide of the changing of the number '5000' to '6242', which was distorted in the sense that since there were two slides with the number '5000', and that one slide had it's digits in separate text boxes, the '5000' somehow separated itself in great obviousness in the middle of the scene, thus making me panick if this would affect the transition from '5000' to '6242'.

But praise the Lord abundantly that the transition wasn't affected, and the numbers rooled off the screen the way like they were suppose to. Once all the remaining automated slides were played, which were there to demonstrate where all the project's money's going (Africa), I was on stand-by to play the slides that involved the Acknowledgements.

The Acknowledgements starts off with a paragragh per person wanted to be acknowledged. Now for those who didn't know, the Acknowledgements was suppose to end with the slide with the most animation in it. You see, the paragraphs were suppose to compile in a slide until all acknolwedgements except the one of the students were within the area. Now that special slide was suppose to fade out all the paragraphs EXCEPT a numbers of letters, which would re-shuffle themselves out of nowhere to turn into the sentence 'Most importantly, YOU for making the DIFFERENCE and allowing this project to be such a success.'

It took me three hours just to do that one final slide, and it was as precious as ever. And even though Mr. Bongard deleted a paragraph worth of letters before the actual presentation (because the paragraph was going to thank him and Mrs. Linda Goon, and as usual they felt rather humble...), the slide still worked out somehow when it was examined before being registered into the announcements. But then on the actual thing itself, the slide occupied so many bytes itself that by the time Ben and I reached the last paragraph, the computer suddenly shut down infront of the entire school and later restarted itself.

When the screen suddenly turned into a flow of digital texts, I got schocked and jerked back noticably, then went back to the computer to find that there was nothing I could do about it except end the show. Ben said the last lines, "Most importantly, YOU for making the DIFFERENCE and allowing this project to be such a success! Thank you and God bless!" before we made our exit and left. I guess it could be dissapointing in a way, but the fact that the school hasn't seen this effect before means that I can still reserve this for another presentation in the future! Yay! Just like wine, some ideas just get better and better when kept longer and longer! So I'll just wait for the next opportunity to come, just wait and see!

For the end of the (school) day, we had briefing on the up-coming Common Test Papers, which my class proved me proud when even though the entire Year 2 leel was scolded by 'a member of the Senior Administration' for making unnessasary noise during the briefing, I know very well my class wasn't involved in the noise at all. Such an honour to be in a good class, indeed! And by the way, from 4th to 12th April this blog will experience Temporary Shut-Down so I could concentrate more on the exams. Pray for me!

After the briefing, which also meant after school, JKit asked if I could have lunch(eon meat) with the ussuals again, of which I agreed again. Today, I felt that I've taken one too many baos already and that in this rate, I'd turn into a bao myself. So I decided to try something new again: Fried Kway Teow! I love hawker Fried Kway Teow by the packets and ussually eat the Singaporean delicacy on special occasions. So since today was my presentation day, I thought I might as well give the canteen version of Fried Kway Teow a shot.

Sold in disposable plastic containers, I brought my food to the table the others agreed to sit at before making a detour to the Co-op shop to purchase a pen and a blue file. Once I returned, I sat along with the guys and ate my Kway Teow. To my horror, the top of the dish had a thin layer of pepper, and my tastebuds react faster and greater to the 'burning' feeling pepper can make, let alone a chilli. But thank the Lord the pepper was mild and I didn't respond to it the way I'd usually do. And how'd I usually respond to something really spicy?

Well, I'd imitate Bruce Lee.
("Wah-tar!")

So good thing it wasn't that bad, and once I ate off the top layer I could dig my chopsticks into some spicy-free stuff! Yay! After a nice meal and conversation with the guys (Man, I don't know what I've done to have this priveledge - God be the glory...), I walked with them to the bus stop to go home. Wanting to test my new MP3 Player (Something else to thank the Lord for!), I decided to take it out and play a few tracks onboard the bus. And I just want to say, God bless the man who invented this thingy! It was so ironicly hilarious throughout the period of time I tested the gadget!

And in what way was it hilarious? Well, let's just say that when I placed it on shuffle, it kept on playing music suitable to whatever was going on around me. For examples:

-When I placed my earphones on, the first song played was Hard on Port, and indeed the bus I was on started to make a sharp left on Clementi.

-When I explained to Kirby that I had to alight at the MRT Station to top up my ez-link card and that I only had enough coins to survive me a final trip, the track played was One Last Shot.

-When I watched Tim enter the station, it then played Thank You For The Music.

-When I finally topped-up my card, it played Hallelujah to the King of Kings.

-When I reached the stop at Clementi which I had to alight to change bus and found Kirby still waiting for me, it played Even Now.

-When we were onboard a 75, we ended up standing at the handicaped area since the back seats were taken up, so it played Let's Hang On.

-When we reached Kirby's stop, it played Looks Like We Made It.

-When I reached the side gate of the condominium I stay in, I suddenly felt 'urgent', thus the track To The Pirates' Cave.

-While waiting for the lift at the bottom of my block, it played Don't Quit on Me.

-On the way up, Take The Shot.

(And here's the funniest part!)

-Once I arrived at home, I quickly went to my room to place my bags and wallet (which got tangled with one of the bag straps) down so I could quickly go to the toilet. So once I 'fired' into the bowl, which for some reason had an ant floating around in it, it started playing Under Attack.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAsquidwardHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Oh, there are just those momments when technology can bring you the giggles, hmm hmm. That's about it today, so to the many students out there who're going to take an exam sooner or later like me, may the God Almighty be with you!

Psalms 91:7!!! God bless!!!

(P.S. I found these while revising on P Sci/History, and I somehow feel honoured yet shocked:

Get (fed) out of my class...

Thursday, right? Ok then, thanks.

Today starts in the morning, where I brought back the school flag for returning to the Boardroom. But I came way early this time, so when I got there, the door was still locked. Well, at least this gives me an excuse to bring the flag back to class for another half-an-hour or so. And since the guys wanted to play with the flag yesterday, I guess today should be their day.

Got up through the Space Frame staircase, marched quietly behind Junn Kit until we were a few clasroms from our classroom, then marchedbeside him and said, "Hi!". I then let him play around with the flag while he unlocked the classdoor and set up the classroom for the rest of the people who haven't came yet. Kevin Beck also paid a long visit since his classkey's still with someone else and he can't enter the class till he comes.

But onve it was about 7, I recieved a call from Ben Sim askingme to come to the boardroom at 7.15 so as to show the PowerPoint Presentation to him and finalise any mistakes and to correct them. So borrowing JKit's charger, I rushed down with my Tablet, thumbdrive and the school flag to the Boardroom, where I made my 'patriotic' entry in the way I came in, making Ben laugh for a few minutes till he calmed down and we started viewing the slides again.

He told me the real figure we collected from the donations, and I animated it. He also told me where the money's all going, and I animated it too. He also told me that the *Intense Climax* was unnecesary, so I deleted that one. Before we could finish the whole thing, the bell rung and it was time for morning duty, so Ben told me to leave my Tablet (and charger) in the Boardroom and meet back here immediately after Assembly. I agreed and made my way to my duty spot.

But thinking that Mr. Tay's announcements were going to be short after Assembly, I decided to stay in class after Assembly so as to listen to the 'quick' messages before making my way back down to the Boardroom. The big mistake was, Mr. Tay had a lot to say today, so after 5 or 6 things were settled among the class, I quickly asked Mr. Tay for permission to leave and 'settle something with the prefects'. He nodded my head, and I made my dash to the Boardroom in fear that they might have locked up my Tablet along with JKit's charger.

Thankfully, when I arrived at the Boardroom, Ben was still there along with my (and JKit's) stuff! So with only five minutes left to spare, I quickly went through the addings and editings before running the new version of the slides in front of Ben and a few other passeer-bys like Henry and Kevin. Once done, Ben asked me to stay back for a short while after school to help transport the remaining can drinks we didn't sell during the Rugby match to the Boy's Brigade HQ. I agreed, then quickly disassembled my stuff and made the dash back to my class, so as to arrive at the same momment as Sir, who was going to start Spontaneous Maths Equation or something like that. How fortunate of me! Praise the Lord!

After Assembly, Mr. Tay did specify that he wanted to give us more Recess since today's the day in the time-table when we get two halves of a Recess at different times of a day, which is rather inconvenient for any ACS(I)an boy here (Big stomachs, big games, big crazes and so on). So since Mdm Sheela, our Computer Science teacher, was absent for the day, he thought of using a portion of the lesson for Recess, just this once. But then when it was her lesson, a relief teacher came in, so Mr. Tay had to surrender the time to him, requesting him to dismiss us by a period early so we could break it down.

Apparently, this new teacher didn't know how to teach IT and so agreed with the class that if we could 'entertain' him for the next 40 minutes he'd dismiss us on the spot, 20 minutes ahead of our real Recess. Agreeing, we had a chat with him about the recent drowning incident where four teenagers went into a canal in the measures of retrieving a dropped handphone, only to have the rain come in and wash them away to more than 3 kilometers away from their entry point and to have one of the teens drowned.

Wasn't that successful, though, and we ended up with 10 minutes extra of Recess. Better than nothing.

After the ussual baos I'd buy for Thursday Recesses, I went back to class just in time to get my books and files, and only to find out that today was a Practical Test! *Gasp* Well, I wasn't present for yesterday's P Science lesson so I missed out on the announcement that today was a test. Can't blame anyone for not telling me - too late for that already. So I quickly strolled along with the class to the laboratory, along with my prayers, to find Mdm telling us to stay outside for a while while she sets up the equiptment inside. Once done, she told us to sit in index order. Marching into the room three-by-three, we quietly placed our books at the side desks and sat down on our stools with only our pencil boxes to cling onto.

The test was same-ol'-same-ol', in the sense that 1) There was something practical to do (Oh, really?...), and 2) There were questions that required more prior knowledge than your observations. While doing the test, I felt rather honoured that God allowed me to go through this. No, not 'this' refering to 'this-exam-which-is-ripping-my-guts-apart-just-to-answer-a-simple-question', but more of 'this' refering to 'this-priveledge-to-be-educated-in-knowledges-not-many-people-on-other-sides-of-the-world-get-to-learn'. The mere fact that I knew how to handle to fluids in the test tube I was holding gave me pride in God that He'd actually bless me with this wisdom. An honour, indeed. Praise the Lord Almighty! Thanks, God!

After the test, a few made-by-Faraaz accidents and a wet desks, our class was dismissed for the second Half-Recess, which was 20 minutes only so I found no point going down again to eat/drink/walk. Instead, I stayed in class and re-drew the drawings I made on the side of the whiteboard. For those who aren't in my class, this drawing I made early this week, which was the forth drawing I've done this term, is of a pirate ship half sunken and being dragged further down by a set of tentacles.

I fitted it snug in the middle of the announcements so it didn't distract anything, and just like the other three drawings (1st was a Roman courtyard, 2nd was an European seadock with ship and sailor and 3rd was a departure terminal signboard complete with names of people leaving the class within lessons) I expected this one to be erased away for more announcements to be put in its place. But apparently, it's somehow ended up 'so beautiful that no one dares to rub it off'. So since I still had lots of time, I decided to erase the present drawing, rub out the expired announcements, add in the new ones and draw back the ship on top of the entire structure.

For those who can't tell, I drew the picture in dedication to the up-coming movie, Pirates of the Carribean : At World's End. I know, the Kraken was only in the previous movie (PotC : Dead Man's Chest). But that's the only related thing I could draw! I mean, how'd you expect me to draw a whirlpool with two ships inside firing at each other using something as thick as a whiteboard marker?

And if you're wondering why I'd draw PotC instead of other movies that are coming around the corner like Spider-man III, Shrek III, or even not draw a movie theme and do something else altogether, well here's my reason. I love ships! From as modern as the Battleship, to as primitive as Le Général Français. From as pleasing as a Star Cruise, to as tragic as the Titanic. Show me a minature model of a ship, and I can spend seconds, if not minutes, just staring at the designs on deck and at hull. Yank out a railing, give me a minute and I can point out to you where the part came from.

That's one of the reasons why I'm enjoying Canoeing (A k2 with ruberr-band going at 70% can simulate the Black Pearl's crashing into waves very well!) and also why I ussually unbutton my labcoat while walking back to the classroom after practicals (feels so much like a Captain's trench coat). And if you notice carefully, even my style of walking symbolises paddling! And so PotC is a movie I highly regard, since it does involve pirate ships, and sail ships of the Colonialization Era are the boats I highly regard the most!

So back to drawing, I signed off my drawing with the date '25 May', the date PotC was going to show in theatres.

Or so I thought.

Shil walked past while I signed it off, and he commented that it wasn't actually May 25th, but instead somewhere in early June. I was shocked at that comment, and started debating back my evidences to show it was May and not June. After a 5-minute debate, I ended of my final attack with the words, "... Then I can't watch it on my birthday!" before leaving for Mother Tongue.

Indeed, my birthday's within the range of the theatre screening, IF the show starts on 25 MAY. If it showed in June, then the only movie I could celebrate my b-day with would be Shrek the Third, which apparently screens exactly on my birthday, May 31. I also like Shrek and I love the humour present in the show, but my love for ships is something I'd like to settle on my b-day, as it'll make it that bit more special. But if Shil's right, I guess it'll only be the BBQ...

Speaking on the topic of my b-day, I've been planning my party for some time now and I've decided that for the first time in 6 years, (*heavy breathing*), I will invite my friends for a b-day party. I've never done this in a long time, and at the age of 14 I'm not sure if I'd do a good job as a host. True, my last party at P2 was a smashing success complete with +50 people attending (Classmates, relatives, ect.), tonnes of games and even a 25-cm tall puff cake with little astronauts and a NASA flag on the top (Later that evening, I found out one of my presents was a toy spaceship). But that was years ago - things aren't as childish as they were back then.

So the (so-far) comfirmed details are the following:

Date: 31 May (Duh...)
Time: 12ish, I guess?
People Invited: Just classmates this year. Other people who find out can join along, I guess. But I'm not used to hosting parties, so I think I'd keep the numbers small this time. Besides, it's a Tuesday, so Canoeing Training is on - Just before I leave for the bus stop home, I'd say it's my birthday and walk off. Whether they chase me, sing me a 'Happy Birthday!' song or just ignore, it's their choice. Oh, and God! I'm definitely inviting God! God's gonna be there anyway, so He doesn't need a reminder, hee hee...
Events: Well, there are two main events I'm going to propose to my parents;
-1) Movie
~Afternoon movie at Lido, most likely.
~With lunch there, and having both parents just a 7-minute walk/7-minute bus ride away (Dad/Mom respectively), I guess it's convenient enough.
~But the only problem is just the movie itself. If Shil's correct in saying PotC is in June, I might as well cancel this section since I know that a good portion of my friends wouldn't like to watch an ogre inherit the throne of Far Far Away.

-2) BBQ
~Evening BBQ at the BBQ pit just under my block. (Or maybe a whole-day event if there's no movie)
~Supplies within the reach of footsteps, this is way convenient and controllable for me to handle.
~What to bring? Swimming trunks [+ goggles] (There's a pool here - Wan'na race?), sports gear if you like (I've got a tennis court, a basketball court, a table tennis room, a badminton field, jogging tracks and Bukit Timah Hill's just 5 minutes away, so Hiking is also fine), GAMES (I'm open for surprizes), any snacks you think you'd like to share with the others, a patient heart (because the host might lag a bit in his hosting) and a joyful heart!!!
~Presents? Who needs them? Just come and have fun till the badgers come home! (Where did the cows go?...)

So now that I've got my proposals lined up and ready for firing at my Mom and Dad, all that's left now is the part I fear the most.

Asking my classmates if they'd like to come in the first place.

Someone's gotta do it, and I'm gonna be the host, but I've now lost the courage to step up to a classmate and ask just the simple question of, "Hey, wanna come over to my place on my b-day?". It's just that simple, yet I can't seem to do it yet. And I've got to do it quick, since the BBQ Pit reservations ussually require a month's advance in booking. May the Lord my God be with me!...

Anyway, for CL'B', we tried out typing essays using our Tablet PCs, and it was rather interesting how technology's this advance now these days. Got a few more sentences to go now...

After that was ePOD, where my group presented our presentation on the philosophy behind the movie, Matrix Reloaded. (Wait a minute. How many movies have I just typed into this post?) The presentation had none of my animations for once, since I had to attend to other stuff like the Food 4 Thought Presentation and cheering, which take up a lot of time. So All I could do for the guys was just to summarise the points they researched on, and to talk about a quote in the movie (The quote was the part where the different Smiths came into the scene to fight Neo, and it was interesting saying it in unison with my group - sounded freaky but still interesting.).

For once in my working days, I felt I didn't really contruibute much into the project. May God bless my group members for their efforts! Just like in Ecclesiastes 9:10a, it says, "Whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your might..." So I shall strive for better projects to come, WITH the help of God Himself.

Once dismissed, I was asked by Kirby if I could accompany him home, since we both take the same buses until Chestnut. I agreed after telling him I had to stay back for a few minutes to help transport the drinks (remember?). He also agreed and followed me out to the corridoor, where JKit and Tim asked if I could join them for Lunch. Knowing the timings that ussually happen during Lunch with them guys, I also agreed to them. So Kirby and I joined them to eat a short Lunch together.

Once we found a good table, we placed our bags along the chairs and went off to buy our stuff. I went to buy baos, which were rather fast to order, and made my way back to the table, which was expectedly empty now since the rest of the guys were waiting for their pasta. Right on time, I thought to myself, as I rested the paperbag of baos against my school bag before runnig off to the Boardroom. I then grabbed the three cartons of drinks under a shelf, leaving behind a note telling Ben I din't need back-up now.

Making my route pass the SAC, I checked the table to find Tim and Kirby chatting away, which was also just as planned. I then stared straigh tat the table while walking in attempt to capture their attention. And in a matter of seconds, I caught it. They stared at me in surprise, and I smiled back like as if nothing odd was happening. With a glass wall between us, I quietly faked a stumble while walking to represent myself saying, "SOMEBODY COME HERE ALREADY!!! MY FINGERS WON'T HOLD ANY SOONER!!!" Kirby then came out and helped me with a carton, giving me enough strength to re-adjust my grip on the cartons I was holding.

After returning the cartons, Kirby and I walked back to the SAC and met up with Tim and JKit. We then had a short meal and strong chat before leaving for home(s).

Once at home, I did some work, only to find my Chinese Tution teacher at the door a few hours later. And just in time too. You see, tomorrow's White Space was going to replace lessons Next Tuesday, meaning I'd have remedial for PE coincidentally. So this would overlap my tution and thus I wanted to postpone the tution. But today, Morriel wasgoing to have tution with my teacher, so now I could also ask her if I could have tution after Morriel, of which she agreed to. Now that that's settled, things should run smoothy tomorrow.

Or would it?

The Last Stand...

Today was Tennis and Squash 'C' Division. Fellow sportsmen out for battle, eh? Well, here's what happened from my view of the day.

After going through a good chunk of school till 12 pm, I yanked off my tie and ripped off my shirt to reveil the Boardshirt I had to wear for the cheering session. Personally speaking, I thougt the design was rather too plain and only designed areas a bit too elaborated in colour. But like I said, it's personally speaking. I then made my way to the SAC where I found the rest of the prefects and had lunch with them. At 12.30, Davin gave a short briefing on what's going to happen, who's assigned what, when things are goingto start/end and so on and so forth. When the bus finally came, we went to the bus bay and boarded our ride to Kallang Tennis/Squash Centre. How surprising that we met up with Mr. Tay and 'Teck Seng' before leaving.

After passing through the many sights of the Singapore Skyline (Esplanade, NPD Floating Pontoon, Ferris Wheel, ect.), we alighted at the parking lots of the centre and assembled at the different places we hadto go to. I was assigned to Tennis, so I met up with the Tennis guys, including Michael, Koon Min, Nicholas Lee and a few others. Mike 'tatooed' himself with many 'ACS' writings on his body using a thick marker, something you won't be surprised finding Mike up to. The other Juniors in the team were playing around with the hailer we brought along with us, and they were imitating school announcements, Dr. Ong, Eminem, Justin Timberlake and a few other random but funny quotes.

The school flag was also nice to play with, and we were having fun putting up the banner on the tennis wall! I enjoyed the banner part a lot! Hee hee hee...

Within minutes, the classes were coming in, whether from our school or from the others. And minutes from that, the games soon began. This was the finals, and we were up against Chatolic High. The tentions were great - I could smell it as a sportsman myself - and cheering was on stand-by.

*Pause*

If you ask me why I'd be bothered enough to cheer my lungs out just for players in the field/court/stadium/pool/tracks/reservour, well it's basically because I know how scary things can be in a competition, and in my first Canoeing competition, encouragement was the most prized possesion you could ever earn. Want me to tell you my story?

Well, it was a cold and windy Thursday morning in April, and MacRitchie was as dark a shade of green as it could ever be. There I was onboard the AC 205, with Nick Ng behind me as the Backman, and we were making some final rounds at Concrete Bay while we still had our time. It was the day of the Finals, and my parents promised that they were going to watch me race. Greatly excited, yet greatly scared, I paddled along with Nick Ng's timing, trying my best to warm up the strokes as close to perfection as I could for the race.

Earlier on while I was still on land, I asked God if he could send rain to come the momment I passed through the Finishing Line. Since God could't pat my back like a normal person could without killing my body in the intense glory, I'd have taken the rain as a 'pat' instead. Within that minute, rain started to fall, and I started to cry with joy. It was God patting me on the back, telling me even before my race that I'd do well.

"All T2 'C' Division rowers, please report to the 1000-meter mark now," came the muzzled voice of the speakers from the Competitior's Tent a few meters away. On that command, Nick and I paddled off for the last battle. We made it to the Finals by just a slim margin, and with only three possible medals available as always, getting at least Bronze would be more than just threading over water.

Once at the 1000-meter Line, which if you knew your Maths was a kilometer away from the spectators (meaning that there was no one except the competitors and two Starters within the area), the boats around scattered about to the different lanes they were assigned to. Once settled, the Starter recieted his well-known commands.

"T2s, plese raise one paddle."

I slowly raised my paddle above my head, making sure I didn't loose the balance of the boat, then slowly placing it down again.

"T2s, ready."

By now, the area was silent and all heads were turned towards the tracks. I mumbled my prayers and got myself ready.

"Starts within 10 seconds."

All paddles rose in unison after the stressed word 'seconds'. I positioned my Left Blade over the water surface, ready to strike my pull into it. The man waited for a while before squeezing the horn, and thus started the final race for the medals. In the most realistic of races, nithing in your mind makes much sense. Numbers, letters, lines and figures, all bouncing around in your head like a library falling apart to its foundations. The only thing you have control in your mind to do is just the rotation speed of your paddle and the amountof pressure to apply in each stroke.

Either than that, the only signals you recieve from your arms are their cries as they ache in the great misery of the speed, balance and direction you need to sustain in order to beat your apponents, and they beg you to just surrender and stop in your tracks. And yet again, you just can't seem to stop yourself from paddling through to the very end, like a forced rotation your blades have been guided through many times earlier when you've practiced in training.

I embraced the water with all my might, praying in the inside for all the pains I've gone through in the past three months to be fruitful at this momment. Through my partnership with Nick Ng, I've been scolded many a times by him due to my immatureness in canoeing in comparrison to him, thus I didn't really have a person to rely on during th ewhole thing. So without anyone to support me, or at the least feel some love from, I depended greatly on God for the motivation to paddle on. He did His part of encouraging me.

And once at the 250-Meter mark, which was rather close to the spectators, I took the risk of turning my neck by a few degrees to check if my parents were anywhere in the crowd. But due to the great movements my body was experiencing, telling a person out from another was difficult, so I stopped searching and paddled out my final strokes, or as a caneist would call a 'Burst', and I crossed the Finishing Line with a great cry of "Praise the Lord!", then quickly holding water just in time before the AC 205 crashed into the rocky shores the viewers were seated on.

Once I paddled back to the Concrete along with a satisfied Nick and taking the boat up to shore, and after being comforted by an optimistic Mr. See (a rare but precious sight, believe me), I dashed through the spectators in search of my parents, only to find no trace of them. I even went through the Carpark and the Dam just to see if there was the slightest piece of evidence that they were present, but I found nothing. I ran back to the Lower Shed and grabbed my bag to find my handphone and SMS them to ask if they watched me, only to find that I recieved a message from them saying:

'We saw you from the dam. You did great! Leaving for work now, sorry we can't stay for prize presentation. God bless!'

I slowly knelt down among the many bags in the cold and damp shed, crying with tears of joy and touched that my parents came to the event and saw me. Touched that two of the many people who loved me came to watch my victory. Touched that God answered my prayers that my actions would be appreciated one way or another. Touched that I was loved through it all.

So I know how scary a competition can get, let alone a Finals, and let further alone a Finals without anyone to support you through. So I'd march that extra step, wave that final flag, shout that final breath, just to comfort whoever is in the field, panicked as he is, and comfort him through it all. Just like how I'm always behind my friends and family in their times of trouble, I'd be behind the lonely sporter in their time of great animosity.

*Resume*

So to continue,... wow, did I just use 16 paragraphs to explain myself?... where were we? Oh, right, the cheers were on stand-by. Cheering was strictly prohibited during a game - that meant from the time a serve was made to the moment a player scored - due to the likelyhood of the cheer distracting them from the game, which ivolves a load's worth of concentration. This left us with the breaks to cheer, and breaks ussually had enough time for a cheer or two. Nevertheless, we took the opportunities to cheer whenever the opportunities came, using echo cheers so as to unite the school together in attempt to drown out Catholic High.

Unfortunately, we were out-numbered by Cat High and so we requested back-up from the Squash courts, who apparently were more success in their game and required less people to make loud noises in such a confined place like a squash court. It was getting more and more obvious that the court I was assigned to wasn't doing well with the game, although the other courts were doing very well. Ah, well. We still cheered the guys on.

Around this momment, Shil called me to say that the class was dropped off by their bus about a mile away from the tennis/squash centre and they were now at KFC. He asked how they could arrive here from there, and I told him that the centre was just across the road, but that there was a construction site between both locations so we couldn't see each other when we should be able to.

A few minutes later, the class was within view at the carpark, so I went over to the entrance to greet them. They came with cups of soft drinks each, telling me that I missed out on KFC's free re-fills and saying how much they pityed us (Prefects and other classes who came earlier).

Drinks? I don't need drinks! Not at a time like this! There are students battling off their arms in great strains to trash out their opponents for the Gold, and I'm NOT sacrificing their slim supply of motivation all for a cup of chemicals and dihydrogen oxide. A determined but frightened Year 1 is more important to attend to than a free flow of a soft drink.

So while I was still on stand-by for the next cheering, I caught up with the class and refused to accept any offer for drinks in knowledge that it wasn't my time to rest yet. Everyone present was not placed there just to skip school and slack off, but to motivate the fellow classmates within the match.

Soon, it was my turn to wave the school flag, and so I held it tight and waved it around the '8' fashion. I ran about with the flag, waved it high and clear, cheering along also and making sure the flag never touched the ground. When I reached the section of the court where my class was gathered, my classmates started chasing me for the flag. Instructed not to give the flag to a non-prefect, since they'd most likely play around with the flag instead of waving it in the first place, I quickly went off to the other side of the area. But in my rush with the flag, I must had somehow sprained my right arm, so I quickly passed the flag on to another prefect and bit my arm in the strain. ZWei was still offering his drink to me, and JKit was telling me that I work too hard. "It's their day," I told him. "They deserve it." Soon, I accepted ZWei's drink to calm him down.

Now just to fast-forward through the rest of the events or it may take you another few minutes just to read through the remaining details, we didn't make it. We won two matches, lost another two and the last game ended off with an injury. I don't know what others thought, but I salute this guy.

Despite his injured hamstring, which was already an obvious give-away that the game's no longer ours, he didn't stop the game but continued playing against his apponent to the very end, all for the love of his friends and family who were present. I prayed for the guy before joining in a final cheer for ACS to show we acknowledge the efforts put in by our players, even if they gave us the Silver.

Before the prize-giving ceremony, Mr Tay dismissed the class. But I still had to stay back for another half-an-hour to help take down the banners and stuff. So as I was willing to go back home alone, I silently watched as my class left me one by one. But then a couple of people stayed behind for me. Raam and Shil, they bothered to saty behind, for me. Sweaty, voiceless, stinky and exausted as I was, I found that act so kind. I then accepted their invitation to go to KFC for a short dinner after settling some prefect stuff.

So after taking photos with the tennis guys (Joshua Wu gave me a piggy-back ride!), Debrief (By now, it'd be too late to bring the school flag back to the Boardroom, so I was given the flag for safe-keeping for one night! Yay!) and taking down of banners (Aww...), I met up with Shil and Raam for a stroll to KFC for the short dinner I promised. It was nice having a dinner date with the school flag - not many students could actually admit they've done so! But after a popcorn chicken and a couple of rounds of ice lemon tea for me, the three of us guys (and a flag) began our Great Journey to Our Dearest Homes! (*Theme music plays*)

It first starts with the long walk of half-an-hour or so from KFC to Kallang MRT. I felt that since the class had to navigate for a mile to the centre, I might as well complete my share by finishing off a 1.72 mile walk. (For those who don't know, 1.72 miles is equal to 2.77 km.) Well, to tell you the truth, I've found out that we could have taken a shorter route that could have only involved 0.95 miles, but then I wouldn't be paying back, now would I? Anyway, here's the route:

The route we could have taken, and the route we actually took. Painful, huh? Ah, well. By the time I got to the station, I looked like a hiker with a flag bandaging his right arm.

Yah, something like that. Then I took another hour or so so the train journey from Kallang to Jurong East, then change line to go to Chua Chu Kang. From Chua Chu Kang, Daddy came to fetch me, since it was already 7.3something and it was drizzling cold and dark. Came back, had a short dinner, had a hot bath and then now I'm writing an archive of what happen complete with introduction and illustrations.

And that's about it for today! Wow, took so long, didn't it? Well now, if you excuse me, I've got a school flag to sleep with. And boy, does she look slim in that cloth! Haha, and it's not common to hear your classmate say he slept with the school flag! Hee hee! How special!

We're on air...

Tim's back, but Faraaz left. How odd. But Tim's still sick, so we had to leave him in the classroom during Assembly. And a good thing there's two prefects that were on duty of that level who were also in 2.10 (Jai and I).

But let's get things started. PE was cancelled today to make way for another New South Whales test, this time it was science. Prayed to the Lord for Him to be with me, and praise the Lord I made it in time to finish the paper! Yayz!

But since the paper only occupied an hour, and PE's an hour and 20 minutes, we were dismissed early for Recess! Hooray! Ate with the main guys, who apparently conqured two tables in the name of our class today. Then after eating a couple of egg pratas, I went back to class to find people staring at my Map de Imperio del Dan. Knowing it was a result of boredom that I made the map, I told them, "I was bored." and then continued underlining the countries on the map. Once it's done, I might photocopy the map into here.

Then there was Life Science Prac, where we finished off the final part of our practical on testing out for genetically-modified maize products and went back to class once we were done to go through another lecture. Hee hee?

History started the last point of Merger/Seperation of Singapore and Malaysia, with the reasons on how we ended up not wanting to call ourselves Residents of Malaysia. Hmm...

For ISO, we were warned that the Literary Report was due next week! Ahhhh!!!!!!! Dear Lord, help me!

Lang Arts A was just the presentations on Act 4 Summary. Praise the Lord it's over.

Then there was Maths, with Sir still speeding away with his lesson as ussual. Graphs are starting to get more complicated: How thrilling!

After school, I went down to the SAC to buy a quick lunch before moving on to the Boardroom to help count the final batch of money for Food For Thought. Rather amusing to play around with the Estate Office's Coin Counting Machine! At least now I know how tough banks work...

Then at 3.50, I left for the Library to wait for Mdm Kavita's Oral Presentation Test. For those who don't know, I was told to do the Oral Presentation Test on behalf of the class, which Mdm Kavita would record and share with the other Literature/Language Arts A teachers. So instead of having the entire class being recorded and finding an average point, I play the risk of taking the test myself. Time-consuming on my part, but it's a sacrifice I'm somewhat willing to make.

Anyway, met Zeng Rong in the Library and chatted with him about stuff until it was 4.30, when I warned him that Mdm Kavita's arrival drew extremely close. He went off, then came back telling me that the coast is still clear. We then chatted for another 20 minutes or so until ZR couldn't take the risk anymore and hurriedly went away. And with great timing too: A few seconds after the momment he left, Mdm Kavita did come in!

She appologised to me for the lateness, then told me to move to Classroom 2.3 while she went to get the radio to record the Presentation. I went off and found the classroom, walking arond while preparing what to say with my book in my hand. Then after a few more minutes, Mdm came in and set-up the radio and tape, avoiding recording until we finished rehearsing. We then went through what we discussed to say and then played it back once done.

Unfortunately, the radio had something wrong with itself and the voices came out as excessive echos. Argh. So now I've got to go through this again tomorrow. Well, tomorrow's also the cheering for Tennis, so Ihope I'd have the will and energy to go through it all!

Adieu, Lynette...

Today was the fairwell gathering which Lynette organised before she and her sister made her leave to Perth for their studies. How surprising. I mean, eight years ago she was a fellow classmate back in Del-Care. And now, she's fading away for good. In Perth. The surprise lies both in the fact that someone dissapears suddenly, and that Perth contains many other friends that had left the country for the loophole in the education system. And also in the second point, most of them had changed in character greatly, in a negative way.

Take Justin Goh for an example. Back in Primary 5, he was one of the few people I knew who I could saw I highly respected. Not just respected, but highly respected. Before his migration, he was also an innocent dudewho was very socialble. Unlike me, he became a Prefect and was even recomended for being a Head Prefect.

(Back in Nanyang, Prefects weren't really hated badly. They did their job, we did ours. There was almost no unjust case held between both parties, and no one needed to quarel over anything. That's a reason why I had an odd surprise when I came into ACS(I), where Prefects have been regarded as the lowest of standards. And it was only then which I had my turn as a Prefect...)

Indeed, he was a person I highly looked up to. But when he left for Perth, I could tell from every new visit he'd have back to Singapore that he's changing. Besides the height and the accent, he discovered how to swear the many vougarities available in today's society, let alone the 'f'-word. He admitted to me that he'd been watching porn and had been purchasing 'high-quality magazines'. And he was suppose to have once been an innocent friend. My regard for him dropped lower and lower until I finally concluded that he had now turned into something contradictory to the Justin I looked up to.

Don't get me wrong, though. Just because a person swears loosely does not mean he's not a person I'd highly regard. In fact, the person I'm highly regarding now is just as loose as the rest. But there's more to that guy that God let's me see, and that's the thing that somehow counts. God bless that guy!

Wait, I'm getting way far off from the point! So why not we just fast-forward to the part where Lynette's gathering starts...

First, I recieve a call from Nicholas Fung telling me that their going to be downstairs to send me to the place. My parents were still busy, so I went alone and had to hitch a ride with the Fungs. On the trip there, Uncle Francis was playing a few tracks from a Hong Konger Artist, and Nick showed me a few magic tricks with a deck of cards. When we arrived, we were greeted by John and the rest, other guests who gradually came by their call.

When it was dinner time we finally saw Lynette, and man was it creepy. She looks different, a whole lot different from back in the days of Del-Care. But nevertheless, we had our conversations with her before her final departure. Then after the meals, the guys and the gals divided up for their own forms of bonding. The ladies went up to the attic to play with the toddlers, while the men stayed in the dinning room to chat about stuff from the digital age. Sooner or later, we ended up gathering together in the entertainment room to watch cable stuff (Mr. Bean, Haunted, etc.) before saying our last goodbyes and leaving for our homes.

It may look as if all this took little time, but let's just say this is just a background view of the events. I just arrived back home minutes before the strike of midnight.

Ah, well. Another short post. It's late anyway, so I should be going now. Galatians 6:18! God bless y'all!

Project My Name...

Was prepared formore 'prefect'comments that would somehow remind me of my past, but praise the Lord there's none today! Yay!

SinceI passed NAPHA, PE was just either soccer or basketball. But I was assigned to be a goalkeeper, so I didn't really have much of the action. In fact, I was so bored, I was in a push-up mood! The measures I go under...

Then for L Sci Prac things were more Lecture than Practical since Part II of our experiment was rather short. Ah, well.

ePOD was somewhat active, as we had to do our powerpoint presentations BEFORE and AFTER listening to today's only presenters. They did the Matrix, so now I guess we're forced to cheat. But yet, we can only base their opinions by a small margin: we're doing Matrix Reloaded.

ISO was slow as ussual, and we've been informed that we'd be doing a Literary Review soon, so we need to prepare. Oh, oh.

E Sci was gradual, as we covered the remaining methods of farming. Well, I still need to find out which group I was assigned to for the Holiday Population Assignment or I'd be in deep trouble soon. Anyone know's where my group is?

After school, Kirby invited me for lunch, and so I agreed. The whole group of us - Kirby, Tim, JKit, Aik Leng and I - had a moderate meal complete with dares, chatting and minature stunts before leaving for the bus stop. Respecting the Japanese for their tidiness, I wanted to throw away the rubbish we made on the table, but then Tim told me it's better to leave it to the genetoral staff. He had a point, that's what they're paid for, and if I cleared the table they'd have no job, so I stopped at stacking the plates and left.

Wow, todays extremely short. Especially for a day of Raemiguel Lee Fusheng. So I'll just end off with this...

Even if the world's against me...

I didn't post it, but last Friday, I was suppose to cheer for Cricket 'B' Division. But due to wheather conditions, they postponed it (again) to today. But since today also involves Rugby 'B' Division as well, now all prefects are going to be sent down for a cheering session one way or another. So after re-assigning the different prefects available, I was transferred to Rugby cheering. Yipee?

Anyway, the day started normally with Morning Duty and so on and so forth. But when we did our duties and made our way to the back of the New Audi to gather 'round, we were informed that we were going to cheer in front of the school. *gasp* We were suppose to show the students what cheering's all about, so I guess this would be interesting. After being told which cheers we'd be cheering, We were sent to the side of the Auditorium where we waited for our que to come on stage.

I ended up at the front row, where I could clearly see the entire student cohord, and what made things extra special was that the Senior Admin was at the front seats! And what made things extra extra special was that my class was seated just behind them! And what made things extra extra extra special was that many of the sec 2 Canoeists were just behind them! And what made things extra extra extra extra special was that the many teachers who I knew were all standing up, so they could clearly see me! And that includes Mr. See! I know I should be embarrassed by now, but in my insides I was just laughing at the senario! I mean, it's so coincidental and hilarious! The irony of it all! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!

So anyway, after smiling back at Toj, Eugene, JKit and many others who were waving at me, I heard the command and joined in the cheer:

"ACS, ARE YOU READY?!"

"Yes/No!" was the response we got back, but nevertheless we cheered on. After each cheer, we applauded each other before starting again on the next cheer. Then after three or four cheers, we finally stopped and took our exeunt after Peter (Or was it Kevin? Couldn't see from where I was standing...) gave some final words of encouragements and comments. We then took our positions at the exits of the Auditorium to perform Uniform Check. Once done, I had to go back to the Boardroom to put up the cans for Food For Thought before making my way back to class for History. A good thing this is the last week of the project - I don't think those cans could last another day more in their present state.

When I setled down in the class, I noticed that the class was doing a mini-test on the notes Mr. Ang gave out on the Malaysian Merger. When Mr. Ang came to my table, he asked me where my tablet was. I told him that Mr. Bongard instructed all Prefects not to bring their tablets today due to cheering, so he excused me. Soon, Tim and Pete arrived in the class with the new school socks that were created to destroy the dicipline case of ankle socks. How nice.

Well, I thought just one History lesson without a tablet wouldn't be harmful, but then I didn't realise that the next lesson was Computer Science! But by the grace of God, the teacher wasn't here so for the rest of the free-period, Tim, Kirby, JKit, Faraaz were beating up the cardboard box that held our school socks. Boxing day! I helped them hold up the board for them to punch/kick/smash because no one else was brave enough to do so. I guess faith that the Lord's protection is on me helps a lot, yeah.

After this was recess, where I met up with my cousin! And Ka Fu! Long time since I saw Ka Fu! So we chat around - my cousin with family affairs and Ka Fu with the promoting of Hao Qing - until we finished our meals, and then we dispearsed to the different directions we needed to go to.

When we came back to class, Tim brought back a report to the class that would send them all screaming with joy. Mdm Kavita was absent! Everyone started to celebrate and began hugging each other! A ver funny sight, although Mdm did leave a message to do some work. Ah, well.

For Maths, we started on Linear Graphs! Yay! Navigation!

Then there Art, where the fear of abandonation came back to haunt me again. It started later in the lesson, but first there was the part where Tim got angry at ZRong for irritating him, later calming down and appologising to him. Not a surprising sight for me, but I just kept quiet. Then ZRonglater asked me for a recomendation on where he should place his light source. I asked him for the message he wanted to convey in his picture, and he replied, "Shit." Wanting to to show that I was serious in asking him for the message, I sarcasticlly commented that if he wanted to convey 'faeces', then he'd have to place the light source somewhere at the top of the drawing.

Matt, who was just near by and wh0 was listening to the conversation, came in and asked what happened to me and what went wrong, saying that that was a really perverted statement. But before I could say, "I just want to be serious." and re-ask Zeng Rong for his real message, Tim came in and said, "Y'know what went wrong? He joined the Prefects."

Matt then went along telling me how the prefects had corupted my mind. So from then on throught he rest of the lesson, I was being given 'prefect' comments on how I've been turned evil and the sort. Not wanting to raise a debate, I just kept quiet and continued my work. But the more they teased me, the more I was reminded on what happened to me while I was in Primary 3. The year where almost everyone in my class was against me.

The final straw came when I asked the table I was in if I could borrow an eraser. "No," was the reply, along with, "Because you're a Prefect." I responded with a soft, "k." before quickly moving to the next table. I was reminded too uch of my horrifying past, and if I had heard another comment of me being 'separated' from the people and that I wasn't allowe dto mingle with them, I might have cried. All the hurt and sorrows I had to go through back in P3 flowed into memory, and I softly did my drawing while busily trying to rebuke the bad feelings away. I kept forgiving my classmates (who reminded me of the pains) and the ex-classmates (who gave me the pains in the first place) and kept my emotions between God and me.

Once we were dismissed, I tried my best to keep my distances from the class while making my way to the classroom as quickly as possible. Looking as pale as ever, I kept my prayers high and did all I could to relax myself from the memory.

Once at the class, a notice on the front door said we had an early dismissal since the class was going to do CIP for today. But since I had cheering, it just meant that I had a longer lunch before my throat would be put to the test. After collecting my bags and changing into the Board Shirt, I went down to the SAC and bought myself a couple of Tou Sar Baos, walking around while eating until Michael K caught me and discussed with me aout the details on what was to happen for the Fund Raising Committee.

Apparently, a small portion of the class was seated at a table in front of us, and Tim turned around to find me in the new Board Shirt. Noticing him, I wanted to wave at him and say a small, "Hi!". But when I notice closely, he wasn't smiling. In fact, he was giving the same face a guy I once knew made at me many a times. The last thing I wanted to be reminded about P3 was that person, but seeing Tim that was, I just had to remember. Marvin Sim, the person who hated me the most in that period, appeared to have been staring at me like in the ol' days. The equivalance of Reuben to Justin, Marvin was to me. I panickly kept my mouth shut and lowered my hand, turning back to Michael and listening to what he had to say.

Once done with the small briefing, JKit and ZWei then invited me to the table, so I went over and sat at the edge of the table, clutching the paperbag and nibbling slowly at my baos. I mentally prepared myself for more 'prefect' comments, and sure enough they came. This time, they kept blasting me with so many of them, I was literally being pushed away from the table.

This one now reminded me of the night of my P6 Camp, where my class was scolding me for making friends with the geeks of the class. It was something like what Matt would call a 'Civil War', and I was at the borderline. The minority of geeks at one side, and the majority of the class that hated them on the other. The class was chasing me around the hall, threatening me that if I didn't join them in hating them geeks, I'd be hated along with them geeks, while the geeks themselves, fearful as they were, never gave me any bargain. When I couldn't take the shoutings anymore, I knelt down and cried, saddened that I had to choose between friends instead of being allowed to befriend everyone.

But back in the SAC, I just kept smiling, kept quiet, kept forgiving. I knew they didn't mean to hurt me, but I was just being constantly reminded of the things in my past. So when I had to help take down the Food For Thought cans, I hurriedly made my exit before hearing the words, "You see, this is what they do to us..." or something like that. I held back my voice and plainly did my work, unknotting the wires that held down the cans and transporting them to the Boardroom for safety storage before helping fellow prefect carry the food and drinks we were going to sell at Rugby on board the bus.

Sitting along with Michael on the bus, I listened to the many funny conversations that were onboard, from a couple of guys singing along to an iPod in a crazy manner (Smack That, My Humps, Ain't No Other Man, ect.) to another pair speaking shuffled randomness! Once on the expressway, Ben Sim found out we actually left behind Ryan! Serious a situation as it was, we laughed at the mishap and Ben tried to arrange for other means of getting him to the venue. Half-way along the ride, Mike offered me an ear piece to his iPod, of which I accepted and listened with him to a series of songs which were moderately entertaining for a shadey afternoon. Slowly but surely, I was forgetting about the reminders I went through this afternoon and was being filled with joy again! And being reminded of God by the rain, I prayed that the rest of the day be an adventure worth being involved in. And was I to be surprised...

Once at the venue, the Fund Raising prefects brought down the cargo and carried/shouldered/dragged/kicked them to the breachers, where Ben Sim, Kegan, Bryan, Alex and I set up a small stall to sell the stuff. Helping them out to fill up the cooler boxes with ice and water, prying the cartons of can drinks, dunking them into the cooler boxes and preparing the change floats, I asked God for a great time in the sales. And apparently, nother two schools were competing for the time being, so when their students saw us there announcing that we're open, we were suddenly bombarded with tonnes of customers wanting drinks and Pringles!

Once all ten cartons of Pringles were sold out, Ben Sim quickly told us to shut down the shop before all the supplies get sold out before ACS(I) arrives. He also asked Bryan, Michael and Kegan to fetch a cab back to school so they could collect all the reserved supplies left in the Boardroom and transport them here for selling! Praise the Lord for such success! I mean, 10 cartons of pringles is 60 cans of pringles in total, and since they were sold for $2.50, we already collected $150 dollars! And that's just the pringles: what about the drinks?! A dollar each, but still! Glory be to God!

So when ACS(I) finally arrived, we signalled to them that we were selling stuff, sothey slowly came and buisness was smooth. For an hour or more, the only phrases I ever said were "One dollar.", "What'll you like?", "Change!", "Notes!", "Coins!", "In my pocket!", "Open!", "Close!", "Ben!", "Alex?" and "Thank you!". At least now I've got a feel on what the market's like! Very adventurous! And soon enough, the replenishing supplies arrived and we sold more pringles and drinks! We also had our faces painted the traditional ACSian way! Cheese!

I was more or less multi-tasking as I 1) Sold drinks, 2) Kept the big notes in my pocket for safe-keeping and 3) Watching our school trash the Saints, with a sub-additional 4) Cheering whenever someone starts a cheer, but it was altogether fun and exciting! And when the match was over, it was facinating being involved in the crowd that runs off the platforms and straight to the winning team to shout victory and congradulate each other! An adventure indeed! Once everyone settled back to their seats, the prize presentation was being played, followed by the final cheering of "Hip-hip-hooray!" trice before the closure of the event, of which our Rugby team performed the traditional New Zeland dance thingy which New Zelander soccer/rugby teams always perform before and after a victorious match. How tribal!

When the masses went back home, we prefects had to stay back for a final debrief, where we were congradulated for our great efforts in cheering (which was impressively able to be supported by the school for once), fund-raising (which raised about $650 or so) and support (for the players themselves came to us and thanked us for the encouragements)! We them celebrated with the remaining cans of coke and strepsils before helping to clean up the stadium and taking down the banners before loading the remaining cargo back onto another bus heading back to school. During the trip, I had to help Ben Sim, Kegan and Mr. Bongard count the money again to make sure everything was accounted for. Mr. Bongard's a nice guy when you know him well. He's really a nice guy!

Once back at the school, we brought the banners and remaining drinks to the Boardroom and the banner stands back at Project Desertstorm before heading to our homes for a nice bathand dinner. Mike offered to drop me off somewhere closer to home via his Gong Gong's car, and so I accepted the offer. Knowing that I had my high respects for him, I guess it would have been concidered an honour to ride along with him, now wasn't it?

And by the grace of God, Gong Gong's car over-drove the 75 just in time, so the momment he dropped me off, I could just walk to the bus since it was blocked by the car! Ha ha! Praise the Lord! So for the rest of the journey, I continued grooving along to a small tune playing in my head! Groovy!

Finally at home, I took a short dinner before dunking myself in a shorter shower, then got out my Bible to read a verse or so to end of the day. Well, Romans 5:11 and 17!

All is forgiven to the many people who've hurt me, whether unintended or on purpose, so God bless y'all!!! God's Love!!!

Mr. Anderson...

Woke up at 9 today. After breakfast and other ussual morning stuff, I went to borrow Uncle Alex's street directory. Why? 'Cause I needed to navigate my way to Alex's house. I meant the Alex 'Just-Be-Good' Lee kinda Alex, not my uncle. We - being Alex, Zheng-Wei, Zeng Rong, Raam and I - needed to do an ePOD project about the phylosophy in movies, so we wanted to wach Matrix Reloaded as a group before we got started.

So back to discovering Alex, I found out that his house was just next to the Fish Shop bus stop I always drop off to change to a 75 or 84 whenever going home from school. So to remember where exactly the house was from that bus stop, I took a a blur picture of the map, like this:

Extremely blur, huh? Well, believe it or not, I navigated my way through the shrubs and roads by using this Map to Al(ex) Dorado. But what I must say is that the sudden contrast from the busy urbanised road of Clementi to the peaceful contry-like lanes of Sunset Drive was just unbelievable! You should have seen the sights around the place, and it truely replicates a mini-town, if you know what I mean. But once I reached the house, I was greeted by Alex, who showed me into his mansion and led me to the Dining Room, where Zheng Wei was busy playing FarCry. With only Raam left to wait for (Since Zeng Rong couldn't make it today), I watched the two guys play around with the computer, typing in cheats to make the character do crazy stunts like 'Fists of Fury' and 'Designer's Mode'.

Aftter a few minutes, we ate a Lunch of spagetti and meat delicacies (which were served on pearl trays(!)) and then continued to play a bit more until Raam finally arrived. Once a whole, we gathered at the Living Room and began the movie. Now, since the movies a few years old already, I don't think I need to go to details on what the show's about. What I'll just say is that it's the best Matrix movie in my opinion. But anyway, after watching the movie, Alex and ZW went back to the computer to play DOOM 3 and F.E.A.R., of which by 5.30 I made my way to the bus stop with Raam to catch a bus home.

Once at home, I 'chatted' with my Mom, while actually signalling to her if we're still going for the third part of Pastor Benny Hinn's preaching and sounding like we were chatting so Daddy wouldn't become suspicious. Mom sadly shook herhead, so I nodded back and went to my room to change into something homely. And just when they were promising a triple blessing today. But I'll trust that God has better plans for me. I'll just wait.

So since I'm not going to a service today, I'd like to highlight James 2:26, and it should say (as according to Sunrise Good News Version);

26So then, as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without actions is dead.

Think about it. Has your faith been based on the knowledge that Christ has got your back? Or are you just blindly saying that you know your gifts are in front of you but deep inside, you think that it's impossible? Have faith, my friend! As it says in 2 Corinthians 4:13 says;

13The scripture says, "I spoke because I believed." In the same spirit of faith, we also speak because we believe.

So say what you mean, and mean what you say, for God's garunteed to get your back if you give Him the chance to.

Touched...

Last training day before shut down. How sad. Actually, there's a training session once a week till the exam period, but I won't be able to make it anyway so I'll just have to relly on my push-ups. But since today's the last proper training day before the Term 2 Shutdown, today was also Washing Day! Yup, that time of the season when all the Canoeists take out all their equiptment and rags and buckets of water and give the boats a good scrub-a-dubb-dubb. I had to scrub off some algae that was being harvested on the Stern Styrofoam (Yeuck...), but it's entertaining in its own ways. This is one of the only momments you actually get to shove your head into the Cockpits of the boats and see it inside-out!

Also found out that my Understudy is Rocky! Cool! So since I now know who's gonna take over my duty as Lord of the Life Jackets, I won't have to worry too much about retirement. (Hee hee...)

I then had a quick change, quick journey home, quick 2hour nap, quick lunch, quick shower and quick departure to Petir LRT Station just a couple of blocks away. Took a LRT to Chua Chu Kang and took a North-South MRT to Jurong East MRT Station to meet up with Ben and his Christian gang. If you don't know, today's suppose to be Part II of a preaching visit by Pastor Benny Hinn! And for those who don't know who's Benny Hinn, he's a powerful American preacher of Middle Eastern origin who's well known in the Christian world for his closeness to the Holy Spirit. In his previous visit to Singapore, all he had to do was wave his hand to the right, and almost the entire East Wing of the Indoor Stadium colapsed with the touch of the Spirit! Even Auntie Ai Boon fell in that session! So I also wanted to experience that feeling of being touched by God, and also recieve a few points on living the Christian life.

Ben told meto meet him at the Jurong East Entertainment Centre at 4 o'clock, so I arrived at 3.3o after the experience of a previous outing with him (Sorry, Ben...). So during the half an hour of waiting, I walked around the centre, looking at a few movie posters, watching a Halo match in the games shop, buying a vanila milkshake from McDonald's and reading a few books in a bookfair. But after waiting 45 minutes, I started to panic, thinking that I might have went to rhe wrong place and missed a shuttle bus which Ben and his friends rode away with already.

After checking the Bus Terminal and coming back to the centre, I quickly SMSed Ben and asked of his location, only to be relieved to find out that he's just a few minutes away and Iwas rather early. I continued touring aroung the building until Ben called and asked me to meet his friends at the MRT Station. So in total, I went back and forth the link between the MRT Station and the centre 3 times, meaning that I was given 6 copies of every brocheir available on that stretch, from tution schools to facial products to charities.

Once at the MRT Station, I made a quick comb around the area, only to find Ben and his friends the momment he called me. Caught up with the guys/gals and was rather surprized that not only did they remember who I was, but they also knew how to pronounce my name! Now that's a great achievement! (*applause*) We then waited once more for LCIDNDDVI (Coded by request), then set off by MRT to Kallang, and from there took a shuttle bus to the Singapore Indoor Stadium. We queued up behind a short but timely queue before being able to enter the area, finding seats at the North Section Balcony. Halfway while we started to chat away to kill off waiting time, the musicians started playing music, and being the music appreciator I am, I started being amazed at the variety they could play, even as far as Ancient of Days! I LOVE Ancient of Days! And City Harvest Church, the Church that organised the event, had the largest chior I've ever seen live infront of me! I mean, it literally occupied the entire South Section Main! And with their coloured attire, they made a cross-formation on the section. How nice!

Soon, the event started, and we began by singing a few songs of praise! The instruments were very well coordinated, and the choir was superb! Many forms of music were covered, like Jazz, Rock, Gospel, Jewish and so on, and it was great quality, I must say!

Then after that, Pastor Benny Hinn came on stage, and for the first time I saw how he looked like! I'v eheard a couple of his CD sermons before, and my Mom has a few books which were written by him, but I never got to see how he appears like. And now I've got the chance. A rather tall man with tan skin and white, if not silver, hair covering the entire crown of his head.

He started off with the message of Not Having Enough Time, first emphasizing about God's abundant Grace, but also that the second chances could be over when the Endtimes comes, and that it is somewhat close now. He's not the first person I've heard that from - even Pastor Prince thinks it's within 20 years - but I don't really panick over it that much. The Bible also states that we souldn't be bothered over this stuff, although we must be aware that it can be anytime.

Then he later asked for people who needed Spiritual Healing, which he explained was more important than Physical Healing, to come forward to the edge of the stage so he could pray for them, and LCIDNDDVI went over. A few of Ben's friends and I clapped for him as he made his way to the stairs to get down to the main floor, but then some of them advised me to follow him for friendly support. So I went down thinking that he wasn't too far infront, only to be lost in the sea of spiritually broken people. After searching half of th ecroud, I decided to stop and just pretend I needed the healing too (Which I might have needed, you never know). Once the prayers were said, we were sent back to our seats, and I found LCIDNDDVI back in his. Ah, well. At least he's met up with God.

After a bit more singing, Pastor Hinn shared a testimony over the topic of Paying Your Dept to God, so He Can Pay Yours, and it was real funny at parts! The story goes that in the early years of his Ministry, they started using television to pass out the word on Christian channels in North America. Back then, these channels were alot more rare than now, so the bills started to pile up, and in a matter of months, the Ministry was under dept. Then when he met up with what was soon to be his father-in-law, he shared his problem with him. So his dad-in-law asked how much he placed in the offering. He responded with a few coins. The father-in-law then got up and exclaimed that he knew how to solve his problem. He told him to give more to God, so that God can help pay back. In fact, he even specified that whatever he owed the bills for the few months, Pastor Hinn was to pay back $1000 more! A rather risky choice, so risky that it sounds insane. But Pastor Hinn soon took the advice and went back to his office to fetch the check book, signing off checks to the many associations he knew, even to those he didn't like.

By his next Church service, all he had left under his name was just a 10-cent coin, and the offering tray was soon passed to him. He stared at the tray, not willing to place the coin in it. But God came in and told him, "Drop the coin." "No!" Pastor Hinn kept argueing back. Reluctantly, he soon moved his hand forward and struggled to let go of the coin. He was finally bankrupt.

But then the next day, he recieved a letter from another Pastor somewhere else which contained a $1,000 check and a note saying, 'Hi Benny, The Lord told me to send you this check - I don't know why he asked me to but here.' And to cut a long ending short, all the bills were payed back in a week! Financial Miracles...

After this, we did even more singing, and by now my diaphram was getting really tired, then it happened. The Holy Spirit came! Pastor Hinn first told us to rise and praise the Lord and pray for our illnesses, which we did. I was closing my eyes and speaking in Tongues when suddenly I heard Pastor Hinn say out loudly, "TOUCHED!" I opened my eyes and caught a glimpse of the whole choir collapsing in front of me! It was some what shocking, yet I knew that Christ was just touching their hearts for a while, so I raised my hands towards them and cntinued to pray in Tongues. Then Pastor Hinn moved on to the Left side of the stadium. He gave another shout of "TOUCHED!", and most of the people standing collapsed into their seats with a slow cry. Amazed, but not surprised, I continued to raise my hands and pray for those who were touched. Then due to time shortages, he asked if the remaining sections could huddle close next to each other. Knowing what was going to happen, I closed my eyes and raised my hands as high as I could get them to.

He then said another "TOUCHED!", and most of the remaining people fell down, even I did! It was a weakening feeling, and I just felt a sudden 'change' in my heart. Once I fell back into my seat, still contious of whatever was going on but not wanting to move away from the peace, I started speaking ferociously in Tongues, literally. Another one of Ben's friends was crying, most assumably because God was comforting her in a certain area of her life, and so I wanted to pray for her and tell her that everything's alright. But I was still speaking in Tongues so hard I couldn't stop and all my words came out mispronounced. So I gave up and continued to praise the Lord in my peaceful state, trusting that the Lord had it all under control for her.

Then Pastor Hinn asked for another round, requesting that we all held each other hand in hand so the blessing could pass through the whole stadium. Everyone did so, and after another "TOUCHED!", almost the entire stadium fell down under the Holy Spirit! It was a nice experience worth praising for, and I'm assured my God loves me as always! The Pastor was also busy heling the many handicaped people at the main level, and you could see the many wheelchairs and walkers being taken away. Some of the other leaders who came also recieved blessing, which was rather interesting to watch them recieve on stage. I mean, you see this lady walking toards the Pastor, and the momment he waves his hand over her she collapses on the stage with two ushers catching her fall just in the nick of time. God's presense was truely felt there!

Then after all the healing, Pastor Hinn soon recieved a prophecy. He slowly shared with us that God has preserved Singapore to be the healing station of Asia, and He will attend to the masses of Asia (India, China, Indonesia, ect.) through her! SO in other words, we'd be the Asian version of the pool of Bethzatha (Read John 5:1-18)! What an honour! Then he also gave a request to City Harvest Church if he could borrow the choir on his trip to Israel at the end of the year, if he could convince the Israel Authorities. Everyone involved in the Church clapped and cheered along, and the Pastor of that Church then turned to the choir and blessed them. They again fell down in the Power of the Lord and soon started laughing for the next few minutes.

Then once the whole event was finished (Well, Part III is tomorrow, but still...), Ben, a small group of his friends, LCIDNDDVI and I tried to find our way back, since we all lived very close to each other. So begins The Great Midnight Adventure! (*Now Playing: Indiana Jones Theme Music*) It starts off with us trying to find a shuttle bus that can take us back to the MRT Station. Soon, a bus came and the great crowd flooded into the two doors of the vehicle. Most of the group already made it up the bus, and the only ones left struggling for a space was LCIDNDDVI and I. I shoved my way in, turning around to find LCIDNDDVI smiling, not moving at all and allowing others to get ahead of him. I guess he knew very well he wasn't going to have a space on the bus in the first place for some reason. So we had to separate from him on that part. *Gasp*

Once at the Station, we waited for a minute or so if Kirby was going to arrive any minute soon, but after no sign of him, we had to move on. We went in and boarded the East-West to Jurong East, on the ride of which we had a great chat on what we went through during the session and what was shared, also including personal questions and other conversations about life itself (School, CCAs, classmates, ect.). Been a long time since I had a conversation when I can mention God freely AND knowing the guy(s) ont he other side can relate to what I'm talking about. Praise the Lord for the reminder! We also met up with Clement, Ben's best fried since I-don't-know-when (They even had chicken pox together at around the age of three!).

Once we reached Jurong East, we got off and boarded a train that was on the track to our destination, only to find out that it's shutting down for the day. We quickly got out of the train before it closed shut and made its way back to its Head Quaters. We waited for another few minutes for the next train, while listening to the announcement that "trains will no loner be servicing on Platform A" and praying that our platform wouldn't be the next one to be affected, yet. But by God's grace, the train came soon enough, and later on we'd discover it was the last train of that route for the day! Praise the Lord we made it! Once at the agreed station, we went down and hitched a ride with one of Ben's friend's dad's car around Upper Bukit Timah, dropping us off one by one. (Never knew Ben's Condo was that big!...) Once at home, I went to my room, changed up into somethig casual and went to ben, praying thanks for such a nice day!

Week 3-and-a-half...

I've apparently lost all documentations on what happened this entire week! The only things I can recall is Mdm's Dissapointment, 10.55 for NAPHA 2.4km, Full As Except for Sit-and-Reach for NAPHA, Teeth Extractions on Lower Right Jaw and Recieving Prefect Tees. But either than these, I can't seem to recall what else happened. Ah, well.

SO, to make up for the week, here's another quiz (Courtesy of Lamentations),

10 Random Friends.
Name them.
1.: Michael Kwan
2.: Timothy Goh
3.: Wu Junn Kit
4.: Ng Pi Wei
5.: Rong Zeng Rong
6.: Yii Zheng-Wei
7.: Alex Lee
8.: Benjamin Liau
9.: Jaira Koh
10.: Joshua Tan

Have you dated any? if yes. which?: Erm, if you haven't noticed, all the people listed are coincidentally male. And I'm male. Comprehendo?
Who do u trust most?: Ben!
Which have you known longest?: Pi Wei, since Pri 4. Good ol' Nanyang dayz! Haha!
Which are your best friends?: ALL! Friends forever, heehee...
Which are your closest?: Never really noticed. God always introduces me to a new side of my class once every while. Last year was mostly the Henry Park Boys on average, now is more towards the ACPS Comrades. But you're never certain. The Lord works in ways you never see...
How did u meet 3?: It was the first day of school in 2006, and we were all gathered in the class of 1.10 Andrew. when they called out the names on the namelist, they went to a guy by the name of Juun Kit. A timid pale boy with a British accent rose behind me and answered the teacher's call. Thinking that he was a harmlessly shy person, I thought I'd be willing to be a friend if he found trouble addapting. Now I think back to myself, 'Who you calling harmless?!'.
Would you ever date 4?: AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! GET AWAY FROM ME!!!! GHAH!!!!!!
Have you ever kissed 9?: Erm, Jai? Dude, you alright?
Have you ever been to 1 house?: Tried to twice when he tried to plan out a couple of activities, but somehow never made it. But I have Google Earth photos of it. :)
Are you taller than 7?: Nope. But according to Leon, Alex was suppose to have been a head shorter than him, half a head at least.
Do u have a crush on 8?: No. I have great respect as a Christian for the fella, but I don't think it's the equivalance of a 'crush'.
Do u have the most fun with 10?: Fun?! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Fun! Nice pun!! Next time, define the term fun! If you'd leave it this way all I can say is, "YES!!! LOTS OF FUN!!!".
Do u care about 2?: Most certainly. He's had troubles in his life, but apparently he's been getting closer to Christ now, so I'm always at stand-by to give a helping hand. :)
Would you ever fight 5?: If gamely fighting, them maybe yes. If real fighting, then never. I'll do what I can to avoid harming the creations of God! Amen!
Are you taller than 6?: No. He's a lot larger than me, obviously.
Have you ever slept in the same bed with 3?: Sat on the same bed, yeah, but slept on the same bed, no.
Do u wish you had 4's hair?: He's got short hair, I've got medium. Our hairs work differently.
Do u have any classes with 9?: We're in the same class. Duh. Fellow sportsman!
Have you known 10 longer than 4?: More like vice versa. I only knew Toj last year, and the first conversation with him was him having pity on me for bringing the wrong PE attire. Pi Wei, like I've said earlier, was in Pri 4, and our first friendly conversation was during the Mr. Bean era. (Haha, Mr. Bean...)
What would you do if 10 and 5 were dating?: Then I'd buy their new book, Chess Exposure.
6 and 3?: I'd be watching them gaming away. May work out after all. Gaming alliances, I mean.
8 and 1?: Both are Henry Park Boys, so I think it'll be easier for them to meet up. But the term 'date' gives the twist, so I guess I have no comments.
Are you on 4's top friends?: Apparently, yes! Yay, DreamTeam!
How often are you at 5's myspace?: What's a 'myspace'?
Do you love 9?: Jai again? *shudder* Okay, I love him as a fellow classmate, prefect, sportsman, mix-raced and Christian. That's as far as it goes.
Who do you talk on the phone with the most?: Statistics show that Pi Wei's the top caller, but Tim's catching up, followed by Ben. Statistics show.
Who's house do u go to the most?: I've only been to Pi Wei's and Alex's house once each, and the rest, none.
Who do u have the most classes with?: Based on history, Pi Wei. Based on rate, Junn Kit.
Who's on your mind most of the time?: Jesus Christ, my Saviour.
Have you ever eaten in front of 2?: Every week, along with some others. You never know what happens each meal, hee hee...
Have you ever taken a picture with 6?: Yes, many OEP pictures! Good memories...
Who do u think is most likely to repost this?: Erm, almost everyone with a blog had already posted this. Sad.
