Malaysian retreats...

Found out yesterday evening that Zeng Rong and Shil were spamming my cBox and using it as a chat box like Msn or something of the sort. When Kirby typed out a request to hit their heads, I typed back, 'By all means.' And there, I thought ZR and I were now equal. But them more complications were yet to come, and I'll elaborate more later.

As my Mom was driving me to the school, I recieved an SMS from Tim asking me to think of ideas to ponder about for the Debate this afternoon. I never wrote this down in an earlier post, but I've been selected to be part of a three-men team to represent my class for this year's Inter-class Debate. And so I started thinking about what to say for the rest of the journey.

To continue about the spamming saga, I met ZR once I arrived at the classroom corridoor, and he was complaining about me allowing Kirby to hit his head under "the permission of a Prefect". For one thing, this has NOTHING to do with the Prefects. It's about my blog. And secondly, now that he's complaining, at least he knows how it feels like to be annoyed about a disruption. He then says that to be fair, I should play a round of Chess with him, or he'll continue to spam my place. I agreed, in the terms that he repeat the sentence, "If you play Chess with me, I will not spam your cBox again." The first try was unsucessful as he ended up saying "...,I will try not to spam...", but then he got it after a few tries and it was decided we play a couple of days from now. Ah, well. At least that's settled.

Today's programme starts with another briefing, after which we had Recess. During Recess, I met up with Tim and Niranjan (For those who can't tell, Niranjan's the last [but MOST important] speaker in our team) at a table near-by the Co-op shop and we, or more like Tim and I, discussed about the points we can use for the debate. (Niranjan, like I said just now, was the Last Speaker, and thus does the re-butting instead of the point-sharing.) The motion for our debate was that 'This house supports that parents should be responsible for the crimes of their children'. And we were Proposition. Tough for a guy like me, but we soon came up with a few points.

Then once Recess was over, we had to report for our respective Electives for the day. Due to glitches in the Electives Website (GRRRRRRRRRRRR......),I ended up trying out the Malay Culture and language. No hard feelings to Malays out there (I must admit, I LOVE your pop songs!), but it's just that I was planning on doing something new and out-of-the-usual, instead of something you always see or hear or do everytime you go to the neighbourhood. And in Singapore, you always see the word makan, hear the word makan, and DO MAKAN! (For outsiders, 'makan' means 'eat' in Malay) But I won't argue - The Lord once said in the Bible to do all things with a joyful heart and give it your best!

So I went to 1.11, the assigned classroom for this Elective, and found a seat along the side of the classroom. JKit, Tim and Matt were also attending this course, so I didn't feel lonely. So after waiting for another few minutes, we were surprised three times in a row. Reasons:

1) The teacher that first walked into the classroom was an extremely Chinese-looking lady, but then later we found out she was Malay, so that wasn't a shock. Then

2) A teacher of Indian descent walked into the class and took a seat. We, or at least I, were trying to control ourselves. I mean, you're in a Malay class, and here comes an Indian teacher who's gon'na be in charge of all this? Erm. But then lastly,

3) Our instructors came into the class. The shocking part was this: They weren't Sec 4s like what we were instructed to expect. Instead, they were wearing Bermudas (A uniform symbol to show the person's either Sec 1, 2 or 3) and they were shorter than me. In other words, they were Sec 1! Gasp! The shocks of it all.

So to summarise what happened, we were trained how to speak in Malay, what different ways we can show respect to Malays, the different types of Malay foods, drinks and spices, the types of singing Malays enjoy and even Malay Ghosts. But in between the 'Respect' part and the 'Food' part, there was a 15-minutes break, of which Tim and I took the opportunity to go visit Niranjan at the Magic and Illusions Elective. Being in Prefect attire, my presence made the visit look more important, thus they excussed him, and so he gave us a short briefing on where the debate was to be held and the timewe were to meet there. After finalising the details, we made our way back to 1.11 just in time to continue the lessons.

After the entire thing, even after being selected to be one of the people to present the Reflections on the last day (Gababababa....), Tim and I quickly made our way through the crowded corridors of Dismissal ("I'm bringing SexyBack...") and met Niranjan outside theMain Office. We then went up the New Block to the class of 6.1, the venue of the Debate. There, we met up with the Opposition (2.9) and we did a bit more discussions before we waited for 3pm. Once 3, we waited at our chairs.

And waited.

And waited.

And waited.

And waited.

And waited.

And waited.

Until in the end, Tim couldn't take it and called Mr. Dave Tay to check what's going on. He didn't answer the first call, but replied in another, and so he said it was nothing of our fault as the Judges had to go for some Swimming thingy. The Judges were students, by the way. So we then dismissed ourselves and strolled down to the SAC and had lunch. I bought 2 egg pratas, and sat along with the others. We all then engaged in some small talk, which was rather big if you ask me. From school affairs, to braces, to food, to even ACPS history. But then we somehow came to the topic of our allowances, and JKit pointed out my raised one. Through natural instincts, I rebutted him with the fact that most of it had dissapeared this week as I had to pay off certain things like Prefect Cooperate Ts and Combat Skirmish and the sort. Soon followed a little debate on my fortunaty, which ended off with Tim saying at the end of his statement, "...so stop complaining."

It suddenly dawned to me that I sounded as if I was complaining over a benifit, and I was partially ashamed of myself. God was already blessing me with generous parents who were providing me with my needs, and here I was arguing for a standard status and sounding like a complaint. I told myself to stop and not raise the subject any further, and at the same time told the Lord I was sorry. Besides, the payments I made/am going to make this week are making me bankrupt only because I haven't told my parents about the payments yet. If I did, they'd have paid for me.

But I was honestly bankrupt after the pratas, and was fortunate enough to be given a share of Tim and JKit's box of chocolates. Ah, well. Don't think there much that happened later... oh yah! the Pirate game thingy! Any volunteers?

Oh yah, and I'd like to thank Tim for sending me the song 'We Are Hungry' by Jeff Deyo! Thanks!

Romans 8:1! Remember, God loves y'all!
